Description
This sensor has an exposed thermistor that results in an extremely rapid response time, and this design allows for use in air and water.
Use this sensor in a variety of experiments:
Investigate the effect of temperature on solar panel output.
Explore passive solar heating or solar collectors.
Examine the warming function of nasal passageways.
Discover the effect of vascularity on skin temperature recovery.
Important: For use in air and water only. For temperature measurements in harsher environments that require a more durable probe, we recommend the Go Direct® Temperature Probe.
Rechargeable Battery—Ready When You Are
The robust rechargeable battery offers long battery life and provides always-ready operation when using the sensor wirelessly. Monitor battery life directly from our free Graphical Analysis™ 4 app or LabQuest 2 App. Should the battery run low, simply connect the sensor to the charging cable and keep on collecting—no interruptions or inconvenience to you or your students.
Wired or Wireless—The Flexibility to Choose
Our Go Direct sensors connect directly to your mobile device, Chromebook™, or computer using our free Graphical Analysis™ 4 app—no additional equipment or software purchases are necessary. Go Direct sensors can be used wired via USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth® wireless technology, allowing you to choose the solution best for your classroom or laboratory.

Solar Energy Explorations consists of eight solar energy experiments and one project for students to study renewable energy and solar power while practicing engineering design.
Using the Solar Energy Explorations Go Direct® Package, which includes Go Direct Energy, Go Direct Surface Temperature, a Vernier Resistor Board, and a KidWind Solar Energy Exploration Kit, and Graphical Analysis™ app, students will gain an understanding of energy, temperature, and circuits as they explore solar energy.
Topics Include
Renewable energy
Solar power
Engineering design
The Vernier Resistor Board has seven 1 W 5% resistors mounted on a circuit board. Test clip holes on either side of the resistors allow for easy connections to clips on wire leads. The Vernier Resistor Board provides an ideal set of load resistors for KidWind wind turbines and solar panels.
Resistor values: 10 Ω, 15 Ω, 20 Ω, 30 Ω, 39 Ω, 51 Ω, and 100 Ω
Dimensions: 3.5 in long by 2 in wide
Four insulated jumper wires fitted with mini-alligator clips included
Description
Simpler to use than a multimeter, the Go Direct Energy Sensor measures the voltage and current oputput of a renewable energy system. Connect a source, such as a small wind turbine or solar panel, and our free Graphical Analysis 4 app displays voltage, current, power, and energy output. For simple energy measurements, Go Direct Energy includes a fixed load of 30 Ω. For more advanced experiments, electrical contacts are built into the sensor to connect to an external load, such as the Variable Load, a resistor on Vernier Resistor Board, a water pump, or lights.
The Go Direct Energy Sensor is ideal for a wide variety of renewable energy experiments:
Investigate the electrical energy generated by a wind turbine or solar panel.
Explore the effect of load on wind turbine or solar panel output.
Test blade design variables and evaluate data to determine optimal blade design.
