The Polarizer/Analyzer Set extends the Optics Expansion Kit to allow students to study polarization of light. Using a Rotary Motion Sensor to record analyzer angle, Malus's Law experiments are easy, detailed, and accurate.
The Polarizer/Analyzer Set includes a Fixed Polarizer, an Adjustable Analyzer, and an Adjustable Analyzer for Rotary Motion Sensor. Add to these the Light Source and Light Sensor Holder from the OEK, a Rotary Motion Sensor, and the Light Sensor for a complete system for studying polarization.
The Fixed Polarizer linearly polarizes the light from the Light Source.
The Adjustable Analyzer for Rotary Motion Sensor uses the Rotary Motion Sensor to record the angle of the analyzer. The Adjustable Analyzer can be placed after the Polarizer to study the curious behavior of stacks of three polarizers.
A Light Sensor measures the transmitted light intensity, allowing a simple Malus’s Law activity.
Polarizer passes vertically polarized light.
Adjustable Analyzer for Rotary Motion Sensor includes a mount for the Vernier Rotary Motion Sensor to record the analyzer angle.
Adjustable Analyzer includes an angle scale for manual reading of the polarizer angle.

The Fan Cart is a large fan on a light-weight cart. It offers students the ability to perform kinematics and dynamics experiments with constant acceleration, variable mass, variable thrust, and variable thrust angle.
The fan has three speeds for studying the effect of variable thrust. Two mass bars let you change the total mass of the cart to observe how mass affects acceleration. The fan turns on a protractor base, allowing the thrust to be directed at a known angle from the direction of travel. In this way students can ivestigate vector component applications.
A sail is included to perform the fan-on-a-sailboat experiment. The sail can be mounted in two positions to study the subtle effects of diverted airflow.
Although the cart can be used for qualitative experiments alone, most often it is used with a Motion Detector (MD-BTD) on a Dynamics Track (DTS).

The Fan Cart requires four AA batteries (not included).

Add the Vernier Optics Expansion Kit to your Dynamics Cart and Track System to conduct optics experiments, such as image formation with lenses and light intensity vs. distance. You can even use the kit to build a basic telescope.
The parts of the Optics Expansion Kit snap on to the track, so that the parts can be left in place while the track is moved. The three lenses are permanently mounted in three plastic supports. The light source is LED-based, so that it uses less energy and is cool to the touch. A rotating disc on the light source gives you the option of a radiant object, a point source, an “L” with 2 by 1 cm dimension, and parallel lines for resolution experiments. The power supply is the same as the LabQuest power supply. An additional aperture plate is included for experiments based on lens diameter and shape.
For additive and subtractive color mixing experiments, check out the Color Mixer Kit.
The Optics Expansion Kit requires a Vernier Track to serve as an optics bench. The Vernier Track is included with a Vernier Dynamics Cart and Track System.

Eddy current brakes are used as a braking system for high speed trains and roller coasters. Recreate this unusual braking system in your classroom or laboratory by installing our Eddy Current Brake into the end cap of a Go Direct Sensor Cart, Motion Encoder Cart, Standard Cart, or Plunger Cart. As the cart moves over the track, the magnets in the Eddy Current Brake create an electromagnetic drag on the cart that is proportional to the cart’s speed.
The Eddy Current Brake can be used in a variety of experiments:
Investigate the relationship between induced drag and the number of magnets and their position in the brake.
Compare the braking force created by the brake to that of our Friction Pad.
Note: The Eddy Current Brake is not compatible with our older metal dynamics carts that were part of the Vernier Dynamics Systems sold from 2005–2012.
Experiments in additive and subtractive color mixing can be easily and conveniently carried out using the Vernier Color Mixer Kit. The Color Mixer Kit consists of a three-color LED illuminator with power supply, a lens, and a double-sided screen. The intensity of the red, blue and green LEDs can be smoothly controlled from the light source.
For more optics experiments with the Dynamics Cart and Track System, see the Optics Expansion Kit (OEK).
The Color Mixer Kit requires a Vernier Track to serve as an optics bench. The Vernier Track is included with a Vernier Dynamics Cart and Track System.

The Mirror Set for Optics Expansion Kit includes a Half Screen, an adjustable Concave Mirror, and a fixed Convex Mirror. Use these parts with the Light Source and Screen on the Optics Expansion Kit and the track from the Vernier Dynamics System to observe and measure real and virtual images cast by mirrors.
With mirrors solidly mounted on a track acting as an optics bench, your students can quickly understand how images are formed and located.
The Track-to-Track Coupler rigidly connects two tracks for larger experiments and demonstrations. For use with Dynamics Cart and Track System Dynamics Cart and Track System with Go Direct® Sensor Cart
