Go Direct® Photogate

Informations sur le produit "Go Direct® Photogate"

Using Go Direct Photogate, students are able to easily and accurately measure velocity and acceleration to study the movement of an object in free fall, rolling objects, collisions, and pendulums, without needing to know anything about the geometry of the object.

Go Direct Photogate also includes a single laser gate for use with objects passing outside of the arms of the sensor. Using the laser gate requires a visible-light pen laser (not included).

Go Direct Photogate can be used in a variety of experiments:

  • Measuring acceleration of a cart on an incline using a cart picket fence
  • Measuring the angular motion of a wheel as it is turning
  • Investigating Newton’s second law using a half-Atwood machine to measure acceleration
  • Determining the time an object passes one or more gates

Wired or Wireless—The Flexibility to Choose
Our Go Direct sensors connect directly to your mobile device, Chromebook™, or computer using our free Graphical Analysis™ 4 app—no additional equipment or software purchases are necessary. Go Direct sensors can be used wired via USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth® wireless technology, allowing you to choose the solution best for your classroom or laboratory.

Rechargeable Battery—Ready When You Are
The robust rechargeable battery offers long battery life and provides always-ready operation when using the sensor wirelessly. Monitor battery life directly from our free Graphical Analysis™ 4 app or LabQuest 2 App. Should the battery run low, simply connect the sensor to the charging cable and keep on collecting—no interruptions or inconvenience to you or your students.

Physics Explorations and Projects
This book contains over 30 guided-inquiry-based investigations for physics students to explore and analyze key physics concepts included in NGSS. Description Physics Explorations and Projects is a collection of laboratory investigations aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Most included investigations set up a situation for students to explore and analyze with some guidance from the instructor—a guided-inquiry format that is very different from traditional laboratory experiments that provide step-by-step instructions. The activities are editable and appropriate for high school students from 9th grade to AP Physics. Sample results are included with the extensive instructor information. Due to the nature of these activities, minimal instruction is provided for software use and data analysis. Instructor experience with Vernier sensors and software is recommended.

Advanced Physics with Vernier — Mechanics - Print and E-Book
Physisch / Elektronisch: imprimé
Use Vernier probeware to teach mechanics concepts at the college physics, Advanced Placement (AP) Physics, or International Baccalaureate (IB) Physics level. Use it in addition to Physics with Vernier (PWV) for a comprehensive set of topics. Advanced Physics with Vernier – Mechanics is the first of a two-volume set of new experiments for the more in-depth introductory physics course, such as college physics, AP Physics, or IB Physics. Experiments are designed for an interactive teaching style, with planned moments for instructor or student-led discussion. Instructor notes include discussion on how to lead students to a successful activity. The book includes many extensions to challenge the most talented students.

Bar Tape

Laser Pointer
This Class 2 (<1 mW) laser pointer can be used with the Vernier Photogate to produce a gate that is wider than the normal 7.5 cm spacing, making it possible to measure the speed of an automobile or of a person running. The laser case is made of aluminum, and it uses two AAA batteries (included). The wavelength of the light is 650 nm. A momentary switch (normally off) controls the laser beam.

Picket Fence
Picket Fences have eight opaque bars spaced every 5 cm, silk-screened directly onto clear plastic. Drop the picket fence through a photogate to obtain records of position, velocity and acceleration vs time or to measure g.

Time of Flight Pad
The Time of Flight Pad is used with the Vernier Projectile Launcher and a Vernier interface to determine the launch speed of a projectile, along with the time the projectile is in flight. Time-of-flight measurements allow students to see just how kinematic calculations work in real-world applications. The Time of Flight Pad is electrically like a photogate. When a ball strikes the foam top surface, a circuit is closed.

Photogate
Photogates allow for extremely accurate timing of events within physics experiments, for studying free fall, air track collisions, pendulum periods, the speed of a rolling object, among other things. The Vernier Photogate includes an accessory rod for mounting to a ring stand. The gate has an input port so multiple gates can be connected in a daisy-chain configuration with up to four gates going to a single interface channel. The laser gate mode requires the addition of a common pen laser, which is directed into the laser port. The laser may be some distance from the gate, so that you can measure the speed of larger objects such as a rocket, model car, or even a real automobile. User manual
